Dear Subscriber,

First and foremost, thank you all for your responses and your overwhelming support for AAPME 2020 submissions. In light of the growing concerns around COVID-19, we understood that it would be challenging for participants to submit their works, but we made it!!!

A big thank you to all our partners, international jury panelists and stakeholders for their commitment and overwhelming support throughout the AAPME competition. Our jury panel members come from diverse backgrounds and have different philosophies, with people ranging from national to regional presidents, experts from organisations and esteemed institutions such as Harvard, ETH, Global Resilient Network (previously called 100 Resilient Cities), etc.

I am pleased to serve with the IFLA-APR as the chairperson of the Communications and External Relations Committee. I believe landscape design can be influenced by culture, practice, principle, governance, craftsmanship, history, and technology. Indeed, most countries have its own Landscape Architecture institute and the power of the landscape architecture community can be harnessed in a promising way. Some common issues have been found between these institutes, for instance: the resilient city, river flood issues, cities and biophilia. All these issues are common grounds for landscape architects to devise appropriate design solutions. To deal with the above aspects, it would be useful to continue to build a coherent landscape forum from now on. Some activities such as knowledge exchange platforms, conferences and publications will continue; therefore we look forward to your presence, physical or virtual, at our upcoming events in the near future.

On behalf of IFLA APR, we thank you all sincerely for your commitment to landscape! Take care and stay healthy.

Bosco So
