IFLA ASIA-PAC LA LUMINARY AWARD 2021
The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Asia-Pac LA Luminary Award, is IFLA Asia-Pacific's highest honour accorded to its regional luminaries who have inspired and made significant contributions in protecting, championing, advocating for, enhancing and/or sustaining living environments for communities in their profession, region, countries or cities. This award is held in conjunction with the IFLA Asia-Pac LA Awards.
NOMINATIONS AND SELECTION PROCESS
This category is open for IFLA Asia-Pacific National Association's nomination. The Award recognises leadership, stewardship and commitment across all design and professional disciplines, including Landscape Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Social Science, Policy, Research, Politics, Communications and Journalism, Building Architecture and Urban Design.
It aims to recognise exemplary individuals and distinguished luminaries for their achievements and contributions in building healthy communities, environmental sustainability and enhancing the liveability of cities.
An appointed panel of independent, expert jurors from both local and international organisations will assess Award candidates.
Award Recipients will receive a trophy and a certificate at the IFLA Asia-Pac LA Awards Ceremony in August 2021 in Penang (subject to any restrictions in place at the time due to the current pandemic) and will be featured in the IFLA Asia-Pac LA Awards publication.
The Distinguished Luminary will also be conferred with a Patron title under the IFLA Asia-Pacific region.
The Award is administered by the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Asia-Pacific Region.
Nominee Eligibility
The nominee does not need to be a member of IFLA APR or a landscape architect. He/she can be in any profession as long as he/she meet the criteria to be nominated.
Submission Guidelines
To nominate an individual as an IFLA Asia-Pac LA Luminary, the official entrant must be a Full or Corporate member (or equivalent) of its national associations under IFLA. Any entrant who is not under its national association, IFLA Asia-Pacific region or IFLA is NOT ELIGIBLE to make a submission. All submission MUST come through your national associations.
Each submission must contain the following:
Submission: Materials in the submission must be in Word document format, not more than 2 pages of Arial font type and body font size of 11. The name of the entrant and the IFLA National Association shall be indicated in the registration forms.
Criteria for Nominee: The jury will consider the body of work contributed by the nominee to society, communities, and the environment. It will assess the positive outcomes and the kinds of influence that have brought value to the field of landscape architecture and the living environment.
Nominee Name and Title (Name): A submission must have the full nominee's name and title (containing no abbreviations) that indicates their occupation and designation.
Distinguished Luminary Statement: In 300 words or less, described the nominee and why he/she is exemplary and distinguished in their contributions. This statement may be used in promotional materials if the project is selected for an award. NOTE: failure to submit this statement will lead to disqualification of entry.
Narrative for Nominee: Addressing the criteria for the Luminary Award, describe in 1300 words or less any leadership, stewardship, service and commitment works and values across all design and professional disciplines, including Landscape Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Social Science, Policy, Research, Politics, Communications and Journalism, Building Architecture and Urban Design. This should also include any published material in media or publications to support this nomination.
Electronic Boards: To facilitate the printing of A1 boards for the exhibition at the Awards Ceremony, participants are required to compose and include ONE layout board. Each board should be in original A1 size, in landscape, .jpg or .pdf format, high resolution of 300 dpi, and not to exceed 10 MB.
Images*: All images/photographs used in the Electronic boards must be placed in the Image folder (high resolution) in .jpg or .png format. Nomination images must include at least one clear front view portrait and up to three other images and/or photographs not to exceed 10 MB each. NOTE: failure to submit images will lead to disqualification of the entry.
Recognition: The Professional Awards Jury may each select any number of Distinguished Luminary Awards in this category. Jury may choose to confer special awards or special titles, or other recognition not stated in the awards categories.
*Entrants are responsible for clearing photographs with photographers for publication and reproduction by IFLA. IFLA will provide supplied photography and other project credits when using photos, but will not assume responsibility for any copyright or photography fees. IFLA retains the right to publish photos submitted in winning entries inany of its publications or associated material, or on the IFLA website, in promoting the awards programme, and in other products in conjunction with promoting landscape architecture.
