Education Board Research Symposium 2021!!

Welcome ISOLA members, non ISOLA members, academicians, practitioners, students dive into the world of landscape architecture research. The symposium will bring in the opportunity to explore, develop and enhance the skillsets of research in you and to interact with experts in the field of research. The Indian Society of Landscape Architects (ISOLA) is organising a Research Symposium, scheduled to be held on the 26th and 27th of November, 2021.

The symposium will aim for a balanced approach which looks at both academia and practice, as well as the connections between them; in this way, it will be useful both to practitioners who are involved in research and academicians who are involved in practice. The sharing of experiences by eminent speakers, presentations and discussions on research, and mentorship sessions at the symposium will be held in the “virtual format”.

Attending this symposium will be of great advantage to students, teaching faculty and practitioners with an academic inclination. Besides listening to and meeting peers and professionals, asking questions and testing innovative ideas, the practical advice that will be shared through mentorship sessions will be a critical learning experience of immense value for researchers and academicians. The symposium will aim for a balanced approach which looks at both academia and practice, as well as the connections between them; in this way, it will be useful both to practitioners who are involved in research and academicians who are involved in practice.

It is open to both ISOLA members and others, and researchers and practitioners from landscape architecture and related fields. Do register for sharing ideas, meeting new people virtually, and generating new thoughts. You will leave the symposium with enhanced skills in the craft of research, including some of it’s most basic systems and tenets. Topics will include writing and publishing research papers, seeking funding, listening to shared experiences, and various other learnings on how to become a researcher and research writer.

Participants can attend the symposium in two capacities. One group will consist of people who are generally interested in the subject of Research and would like to know more about both the broad generalities and the specifics of it. The second category of people, those who are already engaged in or beginning active research, can attend the symposium for both the presentations and the two Mentorship sessions, of 1.5 hours each. These sessions will give them an opportunity for one-on-one discussions on their current work with senior researchers. These active participants will be selected after a peer review of a Synopsis of their current research work. Other participants will have the opportunity to participate in these mentorship sessions as observers.
