President's Letter

Dear friends,

May marks the sixth month of my term. In the face of the pandemic, many meetings, activities and interactions were disrupted. However, all committees and working groups managed to maintain constant communication through various means, for which I would like to express my deepest gratitude.

The IFLA-AAPME Award has been sustained thanks to Damian's relentless efforts. We are especially grateful to him for stepping out of the Asia Pacific region to facilitate cross-regional exchanges in these difficult days. His perspective deserves applause.

In order to enhance professional and academic exchanges, we have also launched a bimonthly Talk & Share this year, which we hope will be used by committees and working groups to share the international professional landscape.

During the March session, we’re lucky to have Mike Barthelmeh with us sharing his expertise in landscape accreditation in Asia-Pacific and the following discussion was fascinating. We’ll continue to offer invigorating dialogues in the days ahead. Stay tuned and join us in fostering dynamic conversations.

In order to expand exchanges between the Asia Pacific landscape profession and other regions, and to establish and strengthen the iconic natural, geographic, and human landscape character of the Asia Pacific region, we have nominated Damian Tang to be the next President of IFLA. With his experienced leadership and international vision, he will lead IFLA to march into a new direction, create a new vision and reconstruct the "new value of landscape". We hope you will support us in this endeavor.

Finally, we would like to thank the organizing committee of Korea 2022 for their tireless efforts under the pressure of the pandemic. We hope to see you all in Korea in August.

Thank you for your support and suggestions.

I wish you all good health and success in this lovely Spring.

Regards,
