Welcome to the October Edition of IFLA APR's Newsletter. It's awards season this month!
Firstly, the highly anticipated IFLA Asia-Pac Landscape Architecture Awards 2021 was a great success, with the awards ceremony held on October 18, 2021. Whether you missed the live stream or would like to experience it again, be sure to watch the full awards and get inspired by the top landscape architecture projects in the Asia-Pacific region for 2021.
Next, the results of the HKILA (Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects) Professional Awards were announced on October 21, 2021. The Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution of landscape architects through their exceptional work in Hong Kong and across the region. Congratulations to all the award winners!

| Originally slated to be announced at the IFLA World Congress in Penang, the IFLA Asia-Pac Landscape Architecture Awards Ceremony 2021 pivoted to a live stream event due to the pandemic and was held on October 18, 2021.
The awards represent the best landscape architecture projects in the Asia-Pacific region in 2021, featuring 233 awards across 19 categories and a total of 397 entries were submitted.

| ISOLA has organised a virtual Research Symposium on November 26 and 27, 2021. The core topics are research design and academic writing. It is designed to provide a balanced and inclusive approach for those in landscape architecture, research practice and academia who wish to develop their skills and use research as an integral part of their career development.
ISOLA is also calling for research work abstracts for those who are keen to seek mentorship from experts experienced in the field of basic and applied research on their on-going or proposed research topic. Deadline for submission is November 8.

| IWUL's aim is to enhance the research capability of scholars and students from the participating universities and to keep them abreast of new and challenging topics of urban landscapes.
IWUL 2021's theme of ‘Resilient Cities: Landscape Remediation’ organised by THEi (Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong), designates Pokfulam Village as the research site, one of the last remaining squatter villages on Hong Kong Island. The five research themes were district-level water systems, village-level water systems, hygiene and waste, culture and land, and vacant land and underused sites.

| Chaired by five HKILA landscape architects and Ms Claire Martin, President of Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the HKILA Professional Awards results were announced on October 21, 2021. The jury panel was greatly impressed with the diversity and quality of the projects submitted and noted these projects attest to the strength and depth of landscape practice in Hong Kong.
