Welcome to the July Edition of IFLA APR's Newsletter.
 
Firstly, President Monica Kuo shares updates on IFLA APR activities. Next, the IFLA APR Talk & Share 3 on 29 July will be presented by Damian Tang and feature a panel of IFLA Regional Presidents and a National Society President, so don't miss out!

The IFLA Climate Change Working Group recognizes the efforts and commitment of all its members racing to solve the climate crisis. Many landscape architects are leading the way in taking action. By sharing work from around the world, we hope to illuminate and reinforce our potential as landscape architects to contribute creative, proactive nature-based solutions to the challenges that lie ahead.

As we venture into more challenging, unknown, yet exciting territory, this is another crucial event to unite the landscape profession as a community. The series of online educational sessions are organized around the 6 aspects of the IFLA Climate Action Commitment.

LANDAWARD and IFLA APR
LAND AWARD is an International Landscape Award with the aim to reward excellence in this field and recognize the value of significant international projects which give a major contribution in the dialogue between nature and artifice, growing a widespread awareness on the transformation of cities, territories and places of living overall. The aim is to reward the projects that have generated a positive contribution in people’s quality of life and in the integration between art, architecture and landscape.

Alessandro Martinelli shares the importance of the LANDAWARD and how it received support from IFLA regions and IFLA EXCO, especially from IFLA APR President Monica Kuo to achieve its international recognition.

ICOMOS GA23 Scientific Symposium Call for Abstracts
HERITAGE CHANGES: The GA2023 theme seeks to examine the tumultuous changes taking place in the first years of the 2020s. Climate emergencies, conflict, COVID-19, lockdowns, closed borders, virtual meetings, and the Black Lives Matter movement have profoundly altered the ways in which the world is experienced. What has been the role of heritage in these events? What is changing in the field of heritage and what needs to change? What does heritage change – for example, in civil society, the environment, the economy, and in politics? And, in what ways is heritage a force for change and integral to creating a sustainable future?

Deadline for submissions is 23 September 2022.

The 58th IFLA World Congress, themed Re:Public Landscape, will be held in Gwangju, Korea from Aug 31 - Sep 2 2022.

The congress aims to reclaim public leadership in landscape architecture as we re:visit professional and academic achievements to date, re:shape the earth through emerging discourse and technologies, re:vive everyday lives to healthier and more vibrant ways, and finally re:connect to nature.
